Metro East Programs
U5 and under Academy
All players in this age group practice together and are coached using a designed Academy program that is geared to introducing players to the game of soccer. At each practice the coaches will divide the kids into small groups and will introduce them to soccer with fun games that focus on touches on the ball. The emphasis for this age group is foot skills, ball handling and confidence with their individual skill. Players are given the opportunity to express themselves in games but the emphasis IS NOT winning or how to win games. Our goal is to build the player 1st. After the first week, practice will last for about 30 minutes with the games (6 in total) to immediately follow.
At the start of the season, players are divided into teams of 5 or 6 according to age and skill if possible. The players will stay in these teams for the duration of the season. Teams will play 3 vs. 3 games in accordance to Missouri Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) rules.
Games will be held on the same evening. Volunteer parents are needed to be Game Day Managers. Game Day Managers make sure all players get equal playing time, are on the field with the players to help direct them and create a snack schedule for their team.
All practices and games are held at the Monkey Mountain Sports Complex between Grain Valley and Oak Grove on Old 40 Highway. The Academy will begin March 27th at 6:00 PM and will take place on Tuesdays.
Shirts and participation medals will be given to all players, provided by our sponsors.
U6-U7 Academy
This age group of players will be coached together similar to the U5 Academy. Practices will be held on Monday evenings beginning April 2nd at 6:00 PM and most games (6 games in total) will be held on Thursday nights at 6:00 or 7:00pm beginning April 12th. All players will be divided into small groups and will be directed through a series of fun training games and recommended for this age group. Personal skills, ball handling, shooting, and other skills will be the emphasis for this age group. All players will be given an equal opportunity to play and to express themselves in games, winning will NOT be the emphasis; rather player building is our goal.
All the players will be divided into teams of up to 8 players at the beginning of the season according to age and skill if possible. The players will remain in these teams for the duration of the season. Teams will play 4 v 4 games in accordance with Missouri Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) rules (modified).
Volunteer parents are needed to be Game Day Managers. Game Day Managers make sure all players get equal playing time, are on the field with the players to help direct them and create a snack schedule for their team.
All practices and Games are held at Frick Park in Oak Grove on field 4.
Shirts and participation medals will be given to all players, provided by our sponsors.
U8-U9 Academy
Players are placed on teams according to the school they attend, gender and skill level when possible. Returning players will be placed on their previous team when possible. Teams are coached by voluntary parents. Each team schedules their second practices individually, if they choose to have a second practice, and has the use of the fields as scheduled with the club scheduler.
Teams in this age group will also have training sessions with our professional coaches once a week for 6 weeks. Training sessions are run similar to the Academy sessions but are progressed to meet this age level. Training sessions will be held on Monday nights at Frick Park in Oak Grove beginning March 26th at 7:00 PM.
Games are held on the weekends, usually on Saturdays but could be on Sunday afternoons as well. All games will be played at Frick Park on field 3. Games will begin April 14th.
The format for this league will be 5 v 5 (4 field players and a goalie).
The club will find a sponsor to provide shirts for all players. The uniform shirts are expected to last for the Fall AND Spring seasons. For the Spring season the club will provide uniform shirts only for those players that did not play in the Fall and therefore did not already receive a uniform shirt.
Each player will receive a medal at the completion of the season.
Teams at this age level can choose to play in the more competitive KCML share-play league as described on the Share-Play tag or teams that win their league may be moved to the KCML for more comparable competition.
